Today on International Women’s Day, we celebrate the incredible women and inspirational voices committed to driving positive change. This year’s theme is #InspireInclusion. ClwydAlyn over the years have taken significant steps to promote diversity and inclusion in our workplace and community.
As we mark the day, we had the privilege of talking to three remarkable women in our company. They discuss the essential elements for fostering a culture of inclusion and diversity at ClwydAlyn. These conversations underscore a shared commitment to promoting a work environment and community where everyone feels valued, respected, and supported to thrive.
According to Suzanne Mazzone, our Executive Director Housing Services: “Gender issues in the workplace are still there, but in the 37 years that I’ve been working, I feel that there has been major change in terms of equality and opportunity. We’re not there yet, so for anyone starting out in their career today or venturing down a new career path my advice would be to just go for it, you can achieve anything you want to achieve and there will be plenty of inspirational women in your life that will help you to get there.”
Speaking on the company’s commitment to supporting women, Holly Reece, our Inclusion Specialist said: “ClwydAlyn has come so far as an organisation to support women at work, developing an inclusive culture based around our values of hope, trust, and kindness, providing flexible working opportunities, staff networks, creating career pathways and investing in the professional development of our staff. We must continue to be reflective of the environment in which we work, and we must proactively work together to eliminate gender biases and continue to create an environment where women at all levels feel heard, valued, and respected.”
Sharing similar sentiments Annie Jackson, our Community and Engagement Specialist said: “We need to continue to talk and share the stories of the incredible women we have at ClwydAlyn. Role models aren’t just those we see on TV or social media, we work with them, we live with them, and we are them! We need to continue to challenge gender stereotypes and prepare to adapt to the incoming Gen Z workforce so we can reach those young women in the right way and start to inspire the next generation.”
“Adding that :“There are so many different opportunities within housing, something for everyone. For me, ClwydAlyn has allowed me to explore where I fit in the housing world. Whether you want to be an electrician or housing officer, the support will be there for you to grow.”
At ClwydAlyn, we will continue to accelerate progress and champion diversity and inclusion as we celebrate the contributions of women and rededicate ourselves to building a more equitable and inclusive future.
