Members of three retirement communities enjoyed a heart-warming afternoon of music, laughter and friendship, thanks to a generous grant from the People’s Postcode Lottery.

The event, which brought together residents from three ClwydAlyn supported living schemes; Cae Glo, Maes Y Dderwen, and Nant Mawr Court, was planned and organised by David Perkins, who worked with Community Foundation Wales to source the grant.

The highlight of the afternoon was the stunning vocal performance from singer Sophie Bond-Kemsley, who delighted party-goers with a selection of golden oldies and classic musical numbers, including I Dreamed a Dream from Les Misérables, which was a huge crowd-pleaser.

Following the performance, a delicious buffet was served offering a variety of sandwiches, snacks, sweet treats, fresh fruit and hot and cold drinks. Residents were able to enjoy the food whilst catching up with friends. Then, the music continued and some of the residents got up to dance and celebrate being together.

David who is a dedicated member of the ClwydAlyn Resident’s Committee, organised the event supported by Cae Glo residents Barbara and Anne. They went the extra mile to ensure that the afternoon was a true celebration of community spirit. A minibus was even provided to allow residents from different locations to attend.

“I just wanted to bring people together in the best way possible and the event has been a huge success. Thanks to the People’s Postcode Lottery and Community Foundation Wales for helping to make this special day happen.”
