A new report published recently by Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW), has praised Llys Marchan Care Home in Ruthin for the ‘proactive and creative’ approach of care staff, the ‘clean and well maintained’ premises, and ‘excellent’ leadership and management.
The biannual report on Llys Marchan Care Home was recently published, under the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 (RISCA), which provides the statutory framework for the regulation and inspection of social care in Wales. The Report examines four specific areas:
- Well-being

Owned and managed by ClwydAlyn, Llys Marchan offers 10 registered places, for adults requiring short-, intermediate or long-term residential care for mental illness. It is a purpose-built care home, featuring modern facilities, with staff dedicated to delivering the highest standard of 24-hour care, support and companionship.
Following the inspection, which took place on 11 February 2025, the CIW report said: “People are happy living at Llys Marchan. People are encouraged to lead in their support, creating and reviewing care records and making choices about their day to day lives. Care workers are proactive and creative to help people reach their personal outcomes.”
Praise also focused on the space and décor, describing the home as: “clean and well maintained, accessible and safe”. Other aspects of the report commended the supportive and caring interactions between staff and residents, nutritious food, scope of activities and events and the excellent safeguarding in place.
