The first residents have begun to move into their new homes, at ClwydAlyn’s Northern Gateway development in Deeside. The site will see 100 affordable, energy-efficient, new homes created in the area.

Social Housing provider, ClwydAlyn has handed over homes to the first residents to move into its Northern Gateway development, at Garden City in Deeside. Built by Castle Green Partnerships and developed with Flintshire County Council and Welsh Government; the mixture of new properties comprises two, three and four bedroomed homes as well as two bedroomed bungalows and one and two bedroomed apartments.

With a focus on tackling fuel poverty and minimising the negative impact that less energy efficient homes can have on health and wellbeing, all homes at Northern Gateway are built using timber frames and high levels of insulation, with air source heat pumps to provide heating and hot water, and solar electricity panels.

“We’re so excited to be moving in here. Myself and my mum feel that it is life-changing and is definitely a new life for us both.
“Our home is energy efficient, and this will help us so much.
“It’s amazing to be making our new home here."

“We’re delighted to welcome everyone who is moving into their homes. Seeing residents benefit from modern, sustainable homes is at the heart of what we do. These homes not only provide comfort and security but also help to reduce energy costs, making a real difference in day-to-day life. It’s wonderful to see the positive impact this has on our community.”
Penelope Storr
Head of Development and Growth
“The homes are being built using sustainably sourced, precision-made timber frames. This is a fast, reliable method of building, with lower CO2 emissions than traditional masonry construction. It’s enabled us to deliver much-needed, high quality, energy efficient affordable new homes in Deeside quickly. We’re on course to build and handover all 100 homes in just 15 months.”

Partnerships Director at Castle Green Partnerships
