ClwydAlyn’s staff and residents have been busy fundraising for their chosen charity, the Osborne Trust. Successfully raising £8216.31 to support the work of the Rhyl based charity. The Osborne Trust is devoted to supporting children and young people up to the age of 18 years, living with a parent with a cancer diagnosis and undergoing treatment.
The much-needed financial support from ClwydAlyn has been raised through several initiatives including the 3 Peak Challenge, Brave the Shave and the Big Sleepout. Along with raffles, cake sales, tombolas, and games such as the rugby world cup sweepstake. The charity serves as a beacon of hope for children and young people during their challenging journey.
Emma Osborne founder of the Osborne Trust while expressing gratitude said: “We are so thankful to ClwydAlyn for choosing us as their charity of the year and raising over £8,000 for us here at the Trust. This guarantees another 80 families where children are affected by their parent’s cancer can access our support. We have never had a year like it in our 9-year existence, we are supporting more children now than ever before, over 700 during this past year. Having support from local businesses is vital for a small charity like ours and the staff team did amazing in their fundraising. We can’t do US without YOU.”
Amy Teodorescu Pathway Project Manager at ClwydAlyn who participated in the fundraiser said: “The Osborne Trust offers important support to families at a really difficult time, and we felt it was important to raise as much as we could for this wonderful charity. Walking the 3 Peaks was incredibly challenging, but the need to support this crucial charity kept us going, knowing that our efforts make a meaningful impact on those who need it most.”
Another staff participant Simon Coull said: “I had thought about cutting my hair for a while, and all the fundraising was going on in the office for the Osborne Trust, so I thought what a wonderful way to raise some money for a fantastic cause. Everyone in the office was so supportive in sponsoring me, Nigel (maintenance manager at ClwydAlyn) even shaved my head. Friends and family were also behind me. I was so pleased with how much money I raised, knowing it will help so many families is a great feeling.”
Rhian Hewitt- Ensall another staff member said: “I loved helping with the fundraising, thinking of different ways to raise money, and seeing how it will help the Charity and those who rely so much upon it. Thank you for letting us be a part of such a wonderful, dedicated Charity.”
This contribution by ClwydAlyn will help the Osborne Trust to support its programmes and services, ensuring that children and young people facing the emotional and practical challenges of a parent’s cancer journey receive access to recreational activities, offering families some rest and time away from all that cancer entails.
